What do career fairs and entrepreneurs have in common?

When job hunting, it is important to keep in mind the skills you will need in order to run your own business someday.

Although you might still lack the finances and experience, you should never lose sight of your entrepreneurial aspirations. Think: How can this job help me get where I want to be?

Speaking from experience, some career fairs attract companies and jobs you would never want. From police and border patrol work to deliverywomen and kitchen prep work, chances are you are over-qualified.

Nevertheless, it is important to do your homework and go to a career fair prepared.

Study the companies beforehand and check to see if they have any jobs available that aren’t being announced at the event. Perhaps a hotel is at the career fair looking for bellhops, but if you flash your fabulous resumé, they might have a position open in management!

Best of luck and remember: ya gotta do whatcha gotta do…just be sure to gain useful experience!
