Because it’s International Women’s Month, I’d like to take the time to give a hats-off to women around the world who are making strides, not only in the business world, but who are “shaping progress” in various capacities around the globe.

Yesterday evening, The Explorers Club- WINGS WorldQuest held their annual Women of Discovery Awards. WWQ’s mission “is to celebrate and support extraordinary women explorers and to promote scientific exploration, education, conservation and communication in order to motivate and inspire future generations.”

Know the value of your services

The big question when it comes to starting a service-based business: How much am I worth?

Every entrepreneur has to ask herself this question at some point in the business planning process. It can be a never-ending question spinning around in your brain over and over again. Feeling as though your livelihood and self-worth both depend on the bottom line makes the question all the more daunting and stressful. How much am I worth and how do I find out?

Suggestion 1:
Figure out how much money you need to live your life. Calculate how much money you need to pay your bills each month and how much you spend on recreation. When you have a good idea of how much you spend a month, you can easily calculate how much money you need to earn in order to live your life in your city.

Suggestion 2:
Do your research. To find out how much people in a similar field earn…ask. Ask friends, friends of friends, check online, and make a few phone calls. This could be a good starting point to establish how much your services are worth.

Suggestion 3:
Now, discount the first two suggestions I just made and imagine you have no need for money. Yes, it’s raining presidential heads! Yay! Now how much would you charge for your services?

Suggestion 4:
Ask yourself how much you want to make.

After considering the three suggestions above…HOW MUCH ARE YOUR SERVICES WORTH?

Value yourself and your services,
Entrepreneur Goddess
