Attention Gym Bunnies: I have found your new favorite exercise video! Katie Butler’s Back to Basics is the perfect training video for those who live for the gym.

This is an exercise video you can take to the gym if you have an iPod or MP4 player. Choose your fitness level: beginner, intermediate, or advanced. Then, download the appropriate level to your player. The 37 workout clips are enough to keep you occupied and fit for months to come!

Katie Butler acts as a personal trainer and shows you how to use the weight machines, free weights, as well as a few floor exercises.

When you choose your appropriate level, I’d suggest watching the entire series of exercises before loading them onto your player. Not only does Katie Butler offer great tips after each exercise segment, but it’ll help you make the most of your gym time.

If you don’t have much experience with the gym equipment used in this video, I highly recommend you get a consultation at your local gym before implementing the routines in this video. A “live” trainer can show you how to adjust the machine according to your body type and weight.

Once you’ve been fitted to the machines, use Katie Butler’s Back to Basics as your personal trainer.

My recommendation for using this video in the gym: As you take a breather before you move on to the next routine, use this time as an opportunity to watch the next exercise clip, which are all under two minutes.

You can’t find a personal trainer anywhere for $9.99 which makes this video an incredible deal! Gym membership not included. ;-)

Katie Butler’s Back to Basics makes a great stocking stuffer or buy it as a New Year’s Resolution gift for yourself or a friend! You can find it on Amazon.com.

Take a minute for yourself

Zen Credit

We live increasingly busy and demanding lives. So much to do, so little time. We spend our lives worrying about the things we both can and can’t control. Our active days and the information-heavy world we live in can easily drain our energy, which leads to a lack of productivity and creativity.

When did you last take a moment during the day to recharge your batteries? It doesn’t have to be complicated and you don’t need a special space. You can literally take a minute anywhere. I found this video thanks to a fellow goddess who is also passionate about empowering women :

Benefits of taking a minute for yourself:

  • Increased productivity
  • Increased creativity
  • Sleep well at night
  • Avoid burn-out
  • A feeling of peace
  • Better judgment
  • Sound business decisions

If you’re at the computer all day and need a reminder to take a minute, PeacePulse offers a download to help. Every hour, a pleasant ping will remind you of yourself.

Food for thought: Mental happiness is total relaxation.

Triathlon beneficial to business mindset

I did something I never thought I would do before… I not only made it to the starting line, but I finished… a triathlon! Woo-hoo!

Although I’d love to say my accomplishment was due to hard work and dedicated weekly practice, I can’t lie. I trained some, but not nearly as much as I had intended. Life got in the way: I was sick, out of town, and sick again. Oh yes, and there is also that little minor detail of being a small business owner. But, that’s just an excuse. Priorities are priorities and I could have and should have followed my own advice by carving out more time for my physical well-being. I take full responsibility and that’s why I made it to the finish line.

How does this help me in business?

Business Buzz:
Physical activity helps get those endorphins running and will increase your productivity at work. Days when I trained, I felt great and my business activity increased all around. I got more done in less time.

Fleeting Fear:
There is no better way to get over your fears than to face them directly. In the days leading up to the race, I had moments of anxiety and quite a few

I can’t possibly do this type of thoughts. Interestingly enough, participating in the triathlon has helped me get over a few business-related fears as well. Going beyond what I thought was possible has given me a new sense of strength to handle matters I had been avoiding for quite some time.

Your challenge: Find an activity that will both physically and mentally challenge you. Follow through!

Book Review: Green Clean

Is your business green? I hope you’re not working in a toxic office due to the chemicals you’re using to keep your space “clean.” Part of being a responsible Entrepreneur Goddess means taking care of your health. In the long run, cleaning with household (or work place) chemicals can be detrimental to your health. Just as importantly, cleaning with environmentally friendly products will save you big bucks!

There’s a great book you can pick up on Amazon, Borders, or Barnes and Noble called “Green Clean” that really makes environmentally safe cleaning simple. While the book is actually labeled, “The Environmentally Sound Guide to Cleaning Your Home,” most of the chapters can be applied to the office as well.

The three most important ingredients “Green Clean” recommends are baking soda, vinegar, and castile soap. The baking soda and vinegar can be found in massive quantities at Costco for a fraction of the price you would pay for normal cleaning products. Castile soap is also really affordable and found in most grocery stores.

Want to sanitize your desk area in a green way? Dampen a towel with vinegar and wipe clean. It’s that easy and that cheap! More money towards your bottom line while saving the environment and your health!
